On Saturday - train rides vary depending on the train you ride and if you are an Adult, Concession or Child.
On Sunday - Locomotive Workshop Tours and Shuttle services ($10 per head), and Devonshire Teas ($12.50 per head).
** Everything else at RailFest is free of charge**
FRIDAY 26th JULY 2024
- To get you in the mood for RailFest, starting early Friday evening: see the free outdoor Quorn Silo Light Show special rail themed Film Festival "FILM TRACKS". Not to be missed! We recommend you go prepared and remember to take along your beanie, gloves, coat and scarf!
SATURDAY 27th JULY 2024
- 10:00 am - Pichi Richi Explorer train departs Quorn for Woolshed Flat and returns to Quorn. This train will meet the incoming Afghan Express from Port Augusta, the trains will unite and travel as a double-header to Quorn.
- 10:30 am - Afghan Express train departs Port Augusta, stops at Woolshed Flat, and travels on to Quorn. This train will meet the Pichi Richi Explorer train (above) and the united train, now a double-header, will travel to Quorn.
NOTE: This Afghan Express is a one-way train and we have a complimentary bus leaving Quorn at 9 am for Port Augusta Station. When you book your ticket(s) for this service you can also book the bus. - Early Saturday evening: see the free outdoor Quorn Silo Light Show special rail themed Film Festival "FILM TRACKS". SUNDAY 28th JULY 2024
- From 8am steam locomotive light-up at the northern end of Quorn Railway Station yard, come and see how a steam locomotive is prepared for service and meet our locomotive fireman.
- 9:30 am onwards:
- Mainline shuttles - with two steam locomotives (one at each end) departing from Quorn and travelling to Dog Crossing and return. A travel experience on our authentic heritage railway.
Tickets are $10 each (children under 4 years old are free). - Loco shuttles - departing from Quorn Railway Station to the A.G. Williams Memorial Locomotive and Carriage Restoration Workshops for our "behind-the-scenes" tours. See what we do and enjoy traveling on our authentic heritage railway.
Return tickets are $10 each (children under 4 years old are free).

- Booleroo Steam & Traction Preservation Society on display in the Quorn Station Railway yards. See the world’s oldest working Yorkshire Steam Road Wagon No. 34, from 1903; Fowler Steam Traction Engine; Rider-Ericsson Stirling Cycle; Hot Air Engine from the 1870s plus other stationary farm internal combustion engines.
- Quorn is home to a number of local vintage and classic cars and their proud owners are always pleased to come and display their collections and support Pichi Richi Railway. Come and chat to the "Quornies" who proudly own and care for these special vehicles.
- CWA Hut for a Devonshire Tea - step inside our original Sidney Williams, CWA Hut and enjoy a hot cuppa tea or coffee and freshly baked scone. Scheduled at various times throughout the day on Sunday. Book your ticket online now.
- Corral Coffee van - for food and drinks.

- Buckaringa building (free entry) - 40 First Street, Quorn - just a block from Station, in the town's historic retail centre.
- Model display - recreation of Peterborough - Quorn line in Lego bricks, from Peterborough western yard, through Black Rock to Orroroo. Featuring 1:45 scale custom built rolling stock including South Australian Railways T, Y and 400 class steam locomotives, a Brill railcar, Morris MIC and SAR 830 class and Commonwealth Railways NSU and NT class diesel locomotives.
- Steamtown Heritage Rail Centre - a must see static museum in Peterborough and just over an hours drive from Quorn. Come and talk to their team about guided museum tours, their evening sound and light show seen from a carriage on the turntable in the Roundhouse.
- Pichi Richi Railway volunteering - come and talk to our volunteers and learn more about the diverse roles and opportunities that exist at PRR for people of all skills, ages and capabilities. In our organisation we have so many opportunities for you to become involved whether you have a lot or a little amount of time you can volunteer.
- Scale Model Railway display:
- T214 model locomotive - 1/8th scale, weight approx. 150kg &about 2 metres long.
- Commonwealth cars NABP12: first/second class passenger carriage, a smaller version of the NABPa at Pichi Richi Railway, 1.6metres long.
- NHR30 about 1.8metres long and a model of same crew relay van as at Pichi Richi Railway.
- 1/10th scale model of a CR NSU diesel locomotive.
- 1/12th scale model CR Budd diesel rail car.
