Pichi Richi Railway fundraising evening – Sat Aug 26, 4pm–7pm, Mercury Cinema
Rail fans and movie buffs alike will flock to the screening of the old classic Buster Keaton pic The General (1927). An imaginative masterpiece of dead-pan Buster Keaton comedy, The General is generally regarded as one of the greatest of all silent comedies and undoubtedly the best train film ever made.
Organised as a fundraiser for the Pichi Richi Railway Preservation Society, The General will be screened at the Mercury Cinema, 13 Morphett St City, on Saturday August 26 from 4pm to 7pm. The session will also feature the launch of the new Panorama film on Pichi Richi Railway, entitled “For the Love of Steam”. Tickets are $15 and include wine and finger food. Seats are strictly limited, for bookings call Lisa Southon, 8254 6514.
