Indulge your passion for all things rail! There'll be plenty to see and do with engines in steam, a miniature railway, memorabilia displays and a celebration of the T186’s 100 years.

Commemorate ANZAC Day with a ride on the 'Troop Train' hauling heritage vehicles and themed carriages. Enjoy a workshop tour and check out what happens behind the scenes. There'll be restorations in progress, track machinery in operation and much, much more!

Hordes of photographers and onlookers are expected at Quorn on Anzac Day , Saturday 25 April, when Pichi Richi Railway’s ‘Troop Train’ stages a recreation of days gone by, a fitting way to commemorate ANZAC Day. Instead of the usual passenger carriages only, this train will recreate the days when thousands of troops moved through the historic town of Quorn. The train will include a mixture of passenger and freight vehicles, including flat beds carrying heritage vehicles.

“A must for photographers and anyone wanting to get a feel for the past”, said Marketing Officer Lisa Pearson.
Ms Pearson said the Steam Up weekend is an opportunity to indulge your passion for all things rail. “With engines in steam, a miniature railway plus displays of heritage rolling stock and railway memorabilia, there’s something for everyone.”

“During the weekend we’ll also celebrate the T186’s 100 years and launch a major prize lottery to raise funds for the restoration of the Yx141 locomotive. First prize is a highly sought after gold class holiday to Darwin on the legendary Ghan.”

Steam Up is also your opportunity to see behind the scenes at Pichi Richi Railways’ Quorn workshops. You’ll see restorations in progress, track machinery in operation and much, much more!
