Funding for the level crossing protection for the five crossings between Stirling North and Port Augusta has been resolved, with installation commencing shortly. The protection will be largely installed by the end of March, enabling the opening to the public of the 4 3/4 mile (7 km) Stirling North – Port Augusta section on Good Friday, with regular services over the line commencing the following day.

Details of the opening day are still being finalised, and will be advised when they become available.

On Saturday 30 and Sunday 31 March (Easter Sunday), PRR's new service, the Transcontinental will depart Quorn at 10:00am, while the Afghan Express will depart Port Augusta at 10:20am. The two trains will cross at Woolshed Flat, and passengers have the option of riding from one end of the line to the other, or only as far as Woolshed Flat.

The trains will cross again at Woolshed Flat as they make their return journeys.

That weekend will mark the commencement of regular services into and out of Port Augusta. The timetable has all services for the year. See you there!
