Saturday 27th and Sunday 28th July  – we will be celebrating the 50th Anniversary of the Society's first train running.

  • Saturday, 10:00am - our Pichi Richi Explorer train will depart Quorn and travel to Woolshed Flat. This train will meet the incoming Afghan Express from Port Augusta, the trains will unite and this double-header will then travel to the Quorn Railway Station.
  • Saturday, 10:30am - our Afghan Express train will depart from Port Augusta and stop at Woolshed Flat, en route to Quorn. This train will meet the Pichi Richi Explorer train (above) and the united train, now a double-header will travel to Quorn.
    NOTE: this is a one-way train so we are have available complimentary bus transport leaving Quorn at 9am for Port Augusta Station. When you book your ticket(s) for the Afghan Express you can also book the bus. 
  • Sunday, from 9:30am - mainline shuttles will run from Quorn to Dog Crossing.
    • At 1 o'clock we will run a shuttle to the Summit Level Crossing re-enacting the Society's first train in July 1974.   
    • Other shuttles will run from Quorn Railway Station to our A.G.Williams Memorial Locomotive Workshop and Carriage Restoration Workshop for our behind-the-scenes tours.
  • Sunday, other activities will include:
    • Anniversary Ceremony formalities, prior to the re-enactment of the train in 1974
    • "Into The Pass" - PRRPS book launch
    • Steam locomotive light-up -see how a steam locomotive is prepared to run. In the Quorn Railway Station yard, early Sunday morning
    • Historic road vehicles 
    • Steam traction engine - display
