Steam Motor Coach No.1 at Alice Springs in a static display in the late 1960s. The engine unit was built by Kitson & Co, in Leeds, England in 1905, and the coach built by Metropolitan Amalgamated Railway Carriage and Wagon Company of Birmingham for the South Australian Railways and used in the Northern Division which was taken over by the Commonwealth Railways in 1924.  Photo courtesy of SLSA Ref B-27768
