Road safety has been improved for all local road users on West Terrace, Quorn, with the recent completion of works to upgrade the Mill Level Crossing.

The safety improvements included the installation of flashing lights, audible alarms (bells), and associated signaling infrastructure at the level crossing, and were carried out by Pichi Richi Railway Preservation Society, which operates the railway line.

The new level crossing signals were switched on for the first time last week. Pichi Richi Railway Preservation Society member David Southon captured the moment the first Afghan Express train used the new and improved crossing on Saturday, 19 June, 2021.

Minor finishing works, including installation of associated road signage and line marking, will be carried out in the coming weeks.
