When the new railway was completed to Darwin, Pichi Richi was part of the events commemorating the first train to use the new line.
The old and the new: NM25 runs parallel with NR74 with the first Ghan to Darwin, February 1st 2004.
With its train made up at Stirling North, Pichi Richi's NM25 is ready to join NR74 and the first Darwin Ghan for a parallel run into Port Augusta, February 1st 2004.
