Join our heritage railway which has been restored and run by volunteers since 1973, and support us in preserving the 1878-built railway and a nationally significant collection of heritage steam locomotives, diesel locomotives, rolling stock, buildings and heritage registered bridges. We are located in Quorn in the heart of the timeless Flinders Ranges, less than four hours from Adelaide and just 30 minutes from Port Augusta.

Become a volunteer on the Pichi Richi Railway

Ever considered volunteering in an active, enthusiastic, and worthwhile organization?

Pichi Richi Railway offers opportunities in our heritage tourist-focused operation. We have roles in train operations, customer service, tour guiding, railway safe working, or driving a railcar or steam or diesel locomotive.

You can learn new skills or help preserve old ones including timber carriage restoration, upholstery, fine woodwork, hospitality, marketing and metal trades. We welcome men and women for all volunteering roles, for whatever time you can give.
