Pichi Richi Railway Preservation Society (PRRPS) advises timetabled services are subject to cancellation or alteration without notice.
Should a service be cancelled, we offer a replacement on an alternative service at a mutually acceptable time, or a full (100%) refund.
No ticket refunds or transfers apply unless the train service is cancelled.

A proposed steam-hauled service may be replaced by a diesel railcar or diesel locomotive-hauled service if / when:
- A total fire ban is issued in the Flinders District;
- Prevailing weather conditions pose a hazard to railway operations; or
- Mechanical breakdown or circumstances occur outside the control of PRRPS.
Passenger Classifications:
- Free: Passengers under 4 years may travel free of charge if they do not occupy a seat.
- Children: Aged 4–14 inclusive, and Secondary School students 15+. Student cards must be shown on request.
- Concession: Passengers carrying a valid Pensioner Concession Card, Commonwealth Seniors Health Card, Health Care Card or tertiary Student Card. Cards must be shown on request.
- Family: 2 adults and up to 2 children or full-time secondary students.
- Adult: Other passengers aged 15 and older.
- Group: A 10% discount applies to the combined total fare for group bookings of 15 or more paying passengers who are travelling on Pichi Richi Explorer, Afghan Express, or Sundowner Explorer. Group discounts do not apply to Private Hire, Coffee Pot Heritage Rail Experience, Charter services or special events.

Last minute tickets may be available at ticket windows 30 minutes before train departure.
CHILDREN: Must be accompanied by an adult and adults/parents/carers accompanying children are reminded of their responsibility and need to adequately supervise children in their care.
DANGEROUS GOODS: Carrying dangerous goods on passenger trains is prohibited.
DISABLED ACCESS: Travellers who require mobility assistance are asked to phone Flinders Ranges Visitor Information Centre Ph 08 8620 0510 or 1800 PRRAIL (1800 777 245) to discuss their needs before booking. Fold-up wheelchairs can be accommodated, however, travellers must have sufficient mobility to embark or disembark via the carriage steps. There are no wheelchair-loading facilities available.
LIQUOR: No onboard consumption of alcoholic beverages is permitted, except during special events when a restricted liquor license may be in place.
PASSENGER CONDUCT: Anti-social behaviour will not be tolerated and may result in the offender being removed from PRRPS facilities.
PETS: No pets allowed on scheduled services. Guide and Assistance Dogs are permitted.
PRAMS: Trains consist of historic carriages with steep steps and narrow doorways making access for large prams difficult or impossible. Collapsible strollers can be accommodated.
REFUNDS: Pichi Richi Railway only provides a refund when the railway has cancelled the service for which you have purchased tickets.
SAFETY: Our passengers and crew safety is of paramount importance and we adhere to accredited safety and maintenance standards monitored by the Office of the National Rail Safety Regulator (ONRSR). Our crew may need to issue information or directions which are safety-related and your cooperation is appreciated.
SEATING: Seats are allocated before departure. Please arrive at least 30 minutes before the scheduled departure time to receive your ticket and seat allocation. Most seating is configured to run along each side of the carriage under the windows.
SMOKING: Smoking is prohibited on all Pichi Richi Railway trains and property.
