A finely detailed model of the Coffee Pot is the first prize in the major lottery launched in April 2007 to raise help funds for a new boiler for the Coffee Pot.

Handmade by the late Pichi Richi Railway member Mr Geoff Horne, these models are highly prized by collectors and train lovers, and this model was recently independently valued at $2,000.

The Coffee Pot is one of the most historic vehicles in the Society’s collection, a direct link with the old SAR days during the early years of last century.

Local businesses have been very supportive of the lottery, the prize list includes:

  • Geoff Horne’s model of the Coffee Pot value $2,000.
  • Port Augusta weekend package – accommodation at the Standpipe Golf Motor Inn, Twilight Champagne cruise with Gulf Getaways, and a trip on the Afghan Express (including lunch) for 2, value $590.
  • Coffee indulgence package – Griffiths hamper & Coffee Machine from Retravision Port Augusta, value $300.
  • One dozen wines from Remarkable View Wines, value $240.

Tickets cost $10, and we need support to make sure we sell all tickets by the end of October.  Please contact Phil Mellors on telephone (08) 8358 0247 if you can assist with the selling of a book, or just purchasing a ticket.  The raffle prizes will be drawn in early November 2007.
